Campers feel like chefs for a day as they step into our one-of-a-kind kitchen to learn the basics of food safety and restaurant operations in kitchen tours that are designed to compliment NYS Learning Standards. Camp Birch Hill - Family owed, Classic Summer Camp Setting for Boys & Girls ages 6 – 16. Our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment for our campers and staff to enjoy their summer. Our elective based activity schedule is a tribute to the individual campers interests, while offering a daily “personal choice” activity that gives our campers a chance to explore new interests. Enclosed you will find our brochure with general information, an activity form which outlines our program areas, and a list of the activities we offer. Birch Hill campers have the independace to change their activities once at camp.
Camp Chinqueka and Camp Awosting - Family owned and operated for over 60 years, Awosting for boys and Chinqueka for girls are private residential summer camps located in the rolling hills of Connecticut’s Litchfield County. We are a short two hour drive Northeast of New York City. Our camp program is for ages 6 through 16. We offer 2, 4, 6 and 8 week sessions throughout the summer. Our program includes morning swim lessons, 1000ft Zip line, motorsports, gymnastics, and afternoon electives at over forty activities. Come and join the family!
Camp Wingate & Kirkland – Camp W * K is a nurturing, coed, overnight camp for ages 7 – 15 where children are inspired and empowered with a choice of daily activities; indeed a traditional camp in many ways, staying true to old fashioned values. And like it was 55 years ago – W * K is not a “plugged in” camp. Children feel supported and confident to step out of their comfort-zone and try new things without the fear of failure. Frost Valley YMCA - Frost Valley YMCA is one of the oldest summer camps in the country dating back to 1901. Located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, just 2 1/2 hours north of New York City, Frost Valley is a summer camp at heart—all year long. We provide several overnight camping programs ranging from a traditional resident camp to teen adventure trips. Specialty programs like Farm Camp (summer camp on a working farm!) and our girls only Equestrian camps make Frost Valley YMCA distinct. Frost Valley serves a diverse population of campers coming from different socioeconomic status, race, and religion. By partnering up with YAI, Frost Valley YMCA is able to serve children and adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.
Mid Island Air Service – Flight School (Aero Camp) – Mid Island Air Service was founded in 1946. We operate a flight school at LI MacArthur and Brookhaven Airports. We teach all levels of flight training and cater to both professional and recreational pilots. To encourage the youth of Long Island, our future pilots, we offer Aero Camp for students in grades 6-12 and Aero Party for kids of all ages. Our week long Aero Camp provides classroom instruction and numerous tours such as the control tower, fire rescue, corporate aircraft and aviation museums. Museum of the Moving Image - Museum of the Moving Image’s Summer Media Camp is the perfect way for children ages 9-13 to explore technology, express their creativity, and make new friends in an exciting and educational environment. Campers make their own movies, animations, and video games under the guidance of specially trained artists and educators. Camp runs Monday through Friday, 10am-4pm, from July 28th-August 29th. You can enroll in one or more week-long sessions.
NY Cosmos- The New York Cosmos began play in 1971, spending 14 seasons in the North American Soccer League, winning five Soccer Bowl trophies and bringing some of the biggest names in world soccer to the USA. This included Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer, Giorgio Chinaglia and Carlos Alberto. It had been nearly 30 years since the Cosmos, an iconic global soccer club, have played in a professional league. Yet throughout their absence, the club maintained a loyal and dedicated fan following.On Aug. 3, 2013, the New York Cosmos returned to the NASL with a sell-out win at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium, before embarking on a season that would see the Cosmos win the 2013 North American Soccer League Fall Season. The club closed out its inaugural season by winning the 2013 Soccer Bowl with a 1-0 victory against the Atlanta Silverbacks on Nov. 9, 2013 at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, Atlanta, GA. The championship is the sixth NASL title in the club’s history.
Oasis Day Camps -- Oasis is a family of traditional summer day camps that help children learn and practice the skills they will need to succeed in school and in life. Oasis campers have the opportunity to be active, think creatively and make new friendships that will last a lifetime. Oasis includes their traditional day camp for children ages 5-11, activities include athletics, fine arts, nature exploration, swimming, team building and more. Also offered is the Early Start Imagination camp, which was specifically developed to meet the physical, and emotional needs of 3-5 year old pre-K campers. Finally, a Teen Travel program for young adults ages 12-15 is also offered.
Primitive Pursuits - Primitive Pursuits is an all-outdoor nature awareness journey that offers wilderness survival skills, nature mentoring and peer-based community building. Our mission is more kids in the woods learning, laughing and exploring! We teach year-round using time-honored mentoring techniques and kid-focused curriculum. The result is a unique opportunity for children to immerse themselves in the natural world. At Primitive Pursuits we play awareness and stalking games, make fire with friction, craft primitive tools and shelters, harvest and prepare wild edible plants, learn the ways of the woods, track animals and so much more. Primitive Pursuits is a program of 4-H and Cornell Cooperative Extension.
Queens Botanical Garden - HSBC Children’s Garden is a hands-on program for children ages 5-12 years that teaches about plants, gardens, and nature while kids have fun playing in a beautiful environment. With spring, summer and autumn sessions, it’s the first “green” children’s program in Queens, and offers the opportunity to practice different sustainable gardening techniques like composting, mulching, and learning about recycling. Queens Botanical Garden is a 39-acre urban oasis where people, plants, and cultures are celebrated through inspiring gardens, innovative educational programs, and environmental stewardship. (Children must be 5 years old by 6/30/2014 to enroll in the 2014 sessions.)
Summer Institute for the Gifted - Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG), a program of the National Society for the Gifted and Talented, where we put our beliefs into practice, has expanded our services to now include students from 5 to 17 years of age. We offer not only our long standing residential summer programs, but we have expanded to day, and commuter summer programs as well as SIG Beyond: Online programs that run during the academic year. Additionally, we have a number of locations including: Columbia University, Vassar College, The Hudson School in Hoboken, NJ and Rippowam-Cisqua School in Bedford, NY.
Wildlife Conservation Society – Queens Zoo – Young adventurers and naturalists will discover animals of the Americas during the zoo’s new Summer Wildlife Weeks. Our multi-day camps will satisfy young minds with exciting explorations, activities and games, and our three-week internship program will introduce teens to careers working with wildlife.
