As a family in one of our weekly Music Together classes in Astoria, Bayside, Forest Hills, Glendale, Howard Beach, Little Neck or Whitestone, you and your child will have the opportunity to experience music as never before. Yes, we are Mommy, Music, and Me, inc., but we are not simply a Mommy and Me Music Class. NOT your typical toddler music class either. Our Moms and Dads, Grandparents and Caregivers are making music with their children. Moms and Babies play musically to songs and rhythmic rhymes in a variety of meters and tonalities by participating in activities that include small and large movement, instrument play-alongs and community singing guided by one of our early childhood music specialists. Dads do play an important role in our classes classes with their babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. The whole family can participate. Two Grown-ups are always welcome to attend class with each child.
Our fun activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences that are developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers to participate in regardless of their own musical ability! Speech language pathologists recommend our classes to their clients. We welcome special needs music makers and their families. In addition to the fun you will have in class, you will receive two professionally recorded CDs and a beautifully-illustrated songbook so you can continue the music-making fun at home. Families new to Music Together will also receive our “Music Together at Home: Helping Your Child Grow Musically” parent DVD. Music Learning Supports All Learning
In the words of one of our Moms ~”Our family first came to know Wendy & her amazing staff in 2006, with our oldest child’s speech therapist . In short, it was love at first song. Not only were we having a great time at every class, but we were amazed at how quickly her speech blossomed. When it was time for her to start preschool, the thought of her not being part of such a developmentally-appropriate music program was unbearable. So we convinced the preschool to bring in Music Together as a weekly enrichment program! We have since brought two more of our children into the Mommy, Music & Me family. Our weekly classes are a vital and highly-anticipated part of our schedule. All the teachers, role-modeled by Wendy herself, are tuned-in to each child’s vocal sounds, body movements, and musical progress. Moreover, the theories and research behind how things are run in a Music Together class are well explained to the adult laymen. Indeed, I have learned a tremendous amount about my children’s development as a result of these classes”
