I took a walk around Astoria Park and Pool this evening to check out the parks summer movie nights finishing next week. If you haven't yet gotten the chance to go, make next Monday the day. On August 24th, the premiere of National Geographic's Human Family Tree will be showing at 8pm. There is a huge lawn where you can lay down a blanket and have an evening picnic while waiting for the movie to start on a huge screen facing the water. Movies in the park seem to be the modern day drive in studio so make a point of checking it out with the kiddies. The show begins at 8pm but get there early for the best spots on the field. I certainly will.
There are still outdoor movies to be seen this year so check out the NYC Parks Department web site for more info.
