Queens Million Trees NYC Volunteers Plant 1,000 Trees in 1 Day

More than 130 volunteers will plant 1,400 trees in Alley Pond Park for the MillionTreesNYC Fall Planting Day and the semiannual “ It’s My Park Day”, an event that brings together thousands of New Yorkers throughout the five boroughs to care for and celebrate New York City parks. The trees will be counted as part of the Mayor’s MillionTreesNYC initiative to plant 1 million trees by 2017.

 As part of MillionTreesNYC Fall Planting Day, more than 1,000 volunteers will participate and plant 20,000 trees at 15 sites across the five boroughs.  In Queens, more than 200 volunteers will plant 3,200 trees in Alley Pond Park, Bayswater Park and Norton Basin Natural Resource Area.
