Looking for fun and free things to do with kids this summer? well you have come to the right place. Queens Mamas is on the hunt for the coolest events and happenings throughout the borough. This weekend the Astoria Park Alliance Presents the 2nd Annual Astoria
Sundays, August 8th and 15th from 1pm-7pm
Shore Boulevard in Astoria Park, Queens
The event includes two days of fun on a temporary
pedestrian street made from Shore Drive.
Astoria Water Walk brings the DOT’s successful Summer Streets Program to
the Western Queens Waterfront. Spontaneous relaxation, as well as fun &
games on Shore Blvd is expected and encouraged. All activities are FREE. Read

Shore Boulevard which runs along the east river
will be closed to motorized vehicles during the Astoria Water Walk this Sunday
and next. This Sunday is the Taste the Neighborhood event which involves a
Watermelon eating contest, a salad throwdown, and free food samples. As Astoria
is the food capital on NYC this event promises to be a foodie paradise. Next
weekend on August 15th is the live music event and clothing swap.
Never been to a clothing swap? Well now is the time to check them out. They are

August 15: LIVE MUSIC and Clothing Swap
The lineup :
An eclectic mix of free outdoor live music with opera
meets and Irish Rock, ukelele meets metal. Plus a clothing swap! Bring your
gently used old clothes and find ones that are new to you. Books and other
small items welcome too. Anyone can participate. Also, the return of Ping Pong
in the Park! Free open play for kids and adults is welcome.
