If you’re looking for a fun mommy or daddy and me class designed specifically to strengthen the bond between you and your child by exploring mind, body, and spirit, look no further than Dreamnastics. Located in the D.R.E.A.M. Wellness Center at the New York Health and Racquet Club, 38 Great Neck Road in Great Neck, the program at Dreamnastics consists of structured, constant movement. Each class encourages interaction between you and your child, as well as between the other parents and the children in the class. It helps to build self confidence in your child, encourages social interaction with other children around the same age, as well as teaches the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle, which are all important factors in your child’s physical, emotional, and neurological development.
Each class is led by an experienced teacher. The staff at Dreamnastics is made up of highly qualified professionals. Co-founder Dr. Adam Glassman is a licensed chiropractor, certified to work with pediatric and pregnant patients. Sarah Glassman is the program director, and is a licensed clinical social worker, having worked with children and adolescents. The rest of the staff is comprised of teachers, personal trainers, and yoga instructors.
Each class is intended for specific age groups, ranging from four months to five years. If one of the classes doesn’t fit your schedule, they offer a build-a-class option, with a three child minimum. They also offer twin only classes, movement classes for children with special needs, infant/child CPR and First Aid, even Lamaze classes too.
The Curious Comets class, for example, is for kids between the ages of 17 and 24 months. At just under an hour long, the kids and parents are moving from start to finish. With sing-a-longs, stretching, and even a zip-line swing, the class is simultaneously stimulating and relaxing. Even though the class activities are structured, the kids still have a sense that they’re playing by their own rules.
