Preschool Place at NYSCI

Indoor play is one of the hardest parts of winter parenting but do not forsake the long cold days so soon. We have found a warm and cozy play space that is worth the trip for a day indoors. Preschool Place inside the New York Hall of Science is a hidden gem in an otherwise big kid environment.

Buried in the back of the first floor of NYSCI is a haven for little ones to enjoy. Fake trees hand above and murals adorn the walls while toddlers and preschoolers pay about with the many imaginative toys at their disposal. Unlike its more hectic counterparts, Preschool Place centers entirely on learning through play such as a story area, a super market, and games.

Preschool Place is free with museum admission and is open all day. You can stay as long as you like and there are also special events such as puppet shows and free entry on Fridays. There is a crafting area for slightly older kids and even a foam climbing space for very little ones as well. We found ourselves meeting several nice moms and dads during our most recent trip and I highly recommend it to moms looking to make some local friends.
