Summer Stock for City Kids
Kids play theater games, sing songs in French, Spanish & Zulu, learn Bollywood & Irish Step dance moves, relax with Yoga stretches, make masks and write scenes for their very own camper-created show. The QMA Big Time Summer Art Thing for Kids
The Queens Museum of Art invites aspiring artists ages 7 – 11 to a unique two-week camp experience that explores the meaning of art in fun and innovative ways. Part art gym, part creative laboratory, activities will nurture children’s art making skills, giving them the opportunity to experiment with new forms of creative expression. When they are not in the Museum’s galleries or studios, campers will go on expeditions throughout Flushing Meadows Corona Park, including trips to the Queens. Theatre Arts Center Musical Theater & Dance Camp
This is a hands-on camp is in residence at the Professional Performing Arts Center at Queensborough Community College in Bayside, Queens, New York City. Programs include theatre, dance, and acting in a professionally based, four-week camp workshop for ages 8 * -19 yrs old. A camp day includes classes in dance, acting, on-camera, musical theater, improv, music & voice, and more, in addition to being choreographed by several Broadway Guest Artists. Summer Outdoor Art Making Workshop at the Socrates Sculpture Park
These free workshops offer diverse groups of children from neighborhood youth agencies, community groups, summer schools and day camps the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities inspired by exhibitions at the Park. Taught by exhibiting artists, children learn fundamental and contemporary artmaking techniques. Artists run two sessions of their workshop each day of the week. Groups can sign up for a single workshop or a combination of weekly workshops. Registration and scheduling will be on a first come, first served basis. Museum of Moving Image Summer Media Camp
Working with state-of -the- art equipment and software, create your own animations, live-action videos, and video games, receiving personal attention suited to your level of experience. At the end of the week, you’ll get a DVD of your work. Each Camp session runs one week, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can enroll in any or all of the sessions. Long Island City Summer Arts Camp
Children can explore dance, music, theater and costuming at this exciting, new collaborative camp housed in the Long Island City Arts Building. Days will be divided into sessions at the Long Island City School of Ballet, the Long Island City Academy of Music and the Secret Theatre, giving children a chance to enjoy each activity every day. Sessions will be led by experienced, professional adult artists. Campers will explore ballet, hip hop, jazz and Sportsdance and through theater games and storytelling, campers will enjoy creative play and develop characters. Building on their theater experiences, campers will use their imaginations to create fun costume pieces for their characters. Campers will not only learn to sing in daily chorus, but also will be introduced to instruments such as piano, drums and violin. There will be two age groups: 3 to 5 years and 6 to 12 years
