Summer Sculpture Workshop for Teens at the Noguchi Museum

July 5-28, M-Th, 11am-4pm Making Your Mark (MYM) is a free summer program that introduces teens in Queens to the work and vision of Isamu Noguchi, while encouraging participants to identify and pursue their own artistic interests. Participants view, discuss, and interpret art on view at The Noguchi Museum and around New York City, and experiment with a variety of sculptural materials and methods to create their own artwork inspired by these experiences. The program culminates in an exhibition of student work at The Noguchi Museum.

This summer, MYM will focus on the ways in which artists respond to built and natural environments. Students will explore casting, carving, plaster, found objects, and other sculptural materials and techniques. This sculpture intensive will take place July 5 through July 28, Mondays through Thursdays, from 11am to 4pm. Students are required to attend all sessions.

High School students between the ages of 14 and 19 may apply to participate in MYM. Applicants must be interested in looking at, talking about, and creating art. For more information on teen programs at The Noguchi Museum and to apply to MYM, please click here.

Applications are due June 1, 2011.
