Between the tennis center, the Hall of Science, the Queens Zoo, and all that space for picnicking it might be easy to walk right past the modest mini-golf course located at the northeast corner of Flushing Meadows Corona Park. But this recreational hotspot—the only fully lit course in the city—is not to be missed. Especially for families and intermediate golfers.
A short walk from Shea Stadium and the # 7 train, Flushing Meadows Golf Center’s turf-padded miniature-golf course consists of 18 beautifully landscaped holes, complete with waterways, on a course suitable for all ages and skill levels. Navigating the ball across bridges and over streams and around other opulent obstacles, kids and novices alike strive to avoid water damage, although it is even more fun when the ball goes awry. A stream carries errant golf balls into a pond, where players use nets to fish them out.
You can round out your afternoon (or evening) with a snack from the concession stand. The full service snack bar offers hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, snacks, ice cream, soft drinks, and beer. Several picnic tables are available to enjoy a meal or a drink before or after your game.
The course welcomes play during both daytime and evening hours. In the summer month’s first tee-off is 8am and the last is midnight, with lights out at 1am. Flushing Meadows golf course is the only one in NYC that is fully lit.
A round of mini golf typically takes 30-40 minutes to complete and admission includes a putter and ball rental. There are different club sizes to accommodate all ages. They also offer birthday parties and cater to camps, schools, and large groups.
