Queens Gets a Food Truck Court

Hold on to your seats, Queens residents: we’re getting our own private food truck court! Next week, 43-29 Crescent Street near Queens Plaza in Long Island City will become the home of popular food trucks like Rickshaw Dumpling, the Treats Truck, Coolhaus, the Milk Truck, Frites ‘N Meats and more.

Are you in the dark on what exactly a food truck is? Basically, food trucks focus on one particular genre of food, and using high quality, gourmet ingredients, take the food to new heights, then sell it to the masses, all on a truck. Usually, food trucks move around a lot, and the best way to find out where your favorite truck will be is by following it on Twitter. The idea of a stationary lot of food trucks in Queens takes the guess work out, allowing residents to enjoy the gourmet food whenever they want.

Rockrose Development Corp., who owns the parking lot that will be transformed into foodie heaven, contacted the New York City Food Truck Association about bringing their gourmet food trucks to Queens. If the project is successful, the lot has the capacity to fit up to sixteen different trucks.

We here at Queens Mamas are really excited about this, so be sure to check back here for updates!
