A Day Trip to Harbes Family Farm

If you are looking for a great family-fun day trip, consider the Harbes Family Farm in Mattituck NY. Only an hour and and twenty minutes outside of Queens, this beautiful working farm is well worth the drive for a quick escape and some good, old-fashioned fun!

Owned and operated by father of eight, Ed Harbes, Ed has tapped into 12 generations of family farming, and used his good dad sense, to create a country wonderland for kids.

Opened daily from 9:00 a.m – 6:00 p.m., the farm will delight kids of all ages with:

●      Potato Sack Races

●      Sing-Along Hay Rides

●      Pony Rides

●      Secret Garden Hedge Mazes

●      Pig Races

●      Tug-o-War Challenges

●      Rubber Duck Races

●      Corn Toss Games

●      A Petting Farm

●      Live Music for Kids

●      A Pedal Cart Track

…and loads more

The apple picking orchards will open on September 24 and great fall festivals complete with pumpkin picking take place throughout October. If  you visit prior to that, check out Ed’s sisters farm, Patty’s Berries and Bunches, right across the street to hand pick your own raspberries and blackberries.

The farm market serves up fresh roasted corn, hot dogs, fresh lemonade and beautiful local fruits and vegetables available for purchase.

This is also a great location for a day trip for adults with some friends.  The farm offers personal wine tastings and bonfire parties and other special events.

Entrance fee is $9.95 per person on weekends and $6.95 on weekdays. Buy four tickets and the fifth is free! Kids under one enjoy free entrance.
