Rosedale is a suburban section of Queens situated at the most eastern part of New York City. It’s bordered by JFK Airport, Cambria Heights, Laurelton and Nassau County. There are many opportunities to meet many families here and discover what makes this part of Queens so special.
Rosedale’s best outdoor destination is Brookville Park located on Brookville Blvd. and 147th Avenue. The park is nearly 90 acres of greenery and it includes a playground has undergone some renovations in the past couple of years to include spray showers. On those hot, humid, summer days you can find many children and adults playing in them. Brookville Park also includes a basketball court, handball court, tennis courts, and areas designated for BBQ’s. There is no shortage on the fun you and your family can have together here. There is also excellent and well maintained fitness equipment to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Not far from Brookville Park is Springfield Park. It’s 24 acres and includes some of the same amenities as Brookville Park. This park is animal friendly and includes a dog run. So bring your pet, the basketball, and a picnic blanket!
If you and your little one are seeking indoor fun then the Rosedale Library is where you want to be! Located on 243rd brStreet it has one of best & well attended story-times in the community. The librarians are very warm and are always ready to recommend a new book to check out. Their DVD collection is also great and is an affordable way to see the most recent kid flicks!
Lowe’s Home Improvement Store is a recent addition to the community’s merchants and is located at 253-01 Rockaway Blvd. Lowe’s Build and Grow Clinics are a fun way to introduce children to building materials and when they’re finished they get to come home with a craft. Pre-registration is recommended but not required. The first 50 children will get aprons and goggles. Check out their website to find out what crafts are coming up.
Playing is fun but so is eating. If you are looking for excellent pizza, fresh salads from a neighborhood legend look no further than J & S Pizza located at 244-35 Merrick Blvd. They only sell square pizza but you’ll bite into it and completely forget about the shape. It has had the same owners for over 30 years; go in and become part of the family.
Rosedale is a lively community and with tons of families and there are always new things to explore. It’s definitely worth checking it out for yourself!
