NYC Honey Festival on the Rockaway Boardwalk

Hey Honey!  We all know that honey is good for a cough and a cold, but who knew it could also be so much fun!  For the first time ever, New York City is getting its very own honey festival.  On Saturday, September 17, parents and kids alike can spend the day at at the beautiful Rockaway Boardwalk to enjoy a host of honey related activities.

Celebrating the legalization of local bee keeping, the Brooklyn Grange has teamed up with the Rockaway Beach Club to bring a full day culinary delights, contests and fun-filled activities to our area.

The festival is hosting what is sure to be an adorable costume contest for kids, so be sure to dress your little bumble bee for the occasion and for the opportunity to win great prizes.

Beginning at 10:00 am through sun down, families can enjoy:

●      Contests for the best kids bee costume and best adult bee costume

●      Kids face painting

●      The best pie made with honey contest

●      Honey tasting opportunities

●      Honey bun eating

●      Cooking demonstrations from local restaurants

●      Delicious food stands

●      Bee graffiti contest

●      Honey inspired pickle tastings

●      Beer making and tasting

●      Beekeeping classes and demonstrations

●      Live music

●      Loads of raffles and prizes

 

Mid September is also a beautiful time to visit Rockaway Beach. Bring your blanket and spend the day listening to live music.  The event is conveniently located at Shore Front Parkway and & Beach 96th Street.
