Unique Programs Offered at Cross Island YMCA

The Cross Island YMCA, located at 238-10 Hillside Ave in Bellrose, Queens is a truly fantastic facility, with a number of unique features including an 1/8 mile lighted running track,4 lighted tennis courts, 2 playgrounds, and the “Learning Annex” for music and musical theatre classes. And that’s all before you step foot in the building!

Inside, the activity is centered around the 2 swimming pools, with plenty of room for lessons, lap swim, group classes, and swim team practice. A multi-room Early Childhood Center is host to UPK, Preschool, after school programs, child watch and more. With over 70 group exercise classes, countless events, programs and activities, the Cross Island Y has got it covered. Here are some highlights:



The Cross Island YMCA takes pride in being accessible to all members. They’ve created programs to accommodate the needs of youth and adults with physical, emotional and mental challenges.

Special Olympics Training:

Free for everyone, but expect a wait list.

Respite for Children with Developmental Disabilities (6-12years):

Gym, arts and crafts, swimming and snack time.

Respite for Teens and Adults (16-45years):

Offers 3 hours of fun, fitness, and skill enhancing activities.

Swim Lessons (5-15years):

Private ½ hour lesson with specially trained swim staff.




Y Kids Got Talent:

All ages, all performers are welcome!

Parents Night Out:

Friday nights from 6-9pm parents can leave children ages 4-12 at the YMCA for pizza, playtime, sports and movies.

Defensive Driving:

Learn how to drive defensively, lower your insurance, and reduce points on your license.


MUSIC LESSONS (all ages)

Violin, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass, Trombone, Piano and Voice lessons are available

Strong Ensemble(6-17 years):

Specifically designed to teach students how to play in an ensemble, or orchestra.

Musical Theatre (8-17 years):

A class offered for vocal students looking to learn techniques used in musical theatre.



Tennis, Gymnastics, Racquetball, Track and Field, Volleyball, and Wrestling are just a few of the sports offering lessons, and some competitive teams.
