Get ready to book a sitter for an hour or two because you’ll soon be going on a local date night. For the first time in 30 years, Queens is getting its own comedy club. The city’s coolest borough is getting even cooler when The Laughing Devil Comedy club opens on December 16th.
The Laughing Devil Comedy Club is providing a much needed break for Queens residents. Now, parents don’t have to pay a babysitter for four hours just to go into the city to see a comedy show and grab a bite to eat. The owners recognized the need for quality comedy in Queens, not just because they have a wealth of experience in the industry, but because they’re Queens locals too.
Not only is it a great date night, but it also offers comedy workshops for teens and adults called The Stand Up Semester. For three hours every week, stand up students will experience workshops, performance opportunities and critiques, and more. Plus, they’ll feed you too. At the end of the semester, for their “final exam,” the students perform in a show live on a Saturday night, right alongside the national acts that will be performing at the club.
As if that’s not enough, the Laughing Devil also plans on hosting “Mom’s Nights,” where the comedy is provided by moms, for moms. Girls night out, anyone?
