Best Christmas Picture Books

A great tradition to start this year is to put a basket of Christmas books under your tree rather than presents (leave those hidden somewhere until Christmas Eve so as not to torture the kids!), and snuggle up together each night by the tree to read. Below are some great books to add to your Christmas book supply.

The Spirit of Christmas, by Nancy Tillman

With beautiful, festive illustrations, this book encapsulates the holiday spirit but its focus is on being with loved ones, rather than just presents or the man in the red suit. It will become a classic in your home that you’ll look forward to reading each year.

The Little Drummer Boy, by Jack Ezra Keats

Written and illustrated by the iconic Jack Ezra Keats, this sweet book is basically an illustrated version of the song. Whether you chose to speak the words or sing them, your little one will enjoy the book and it’s sweet pictures. If sung, it’s a bedtime story and lullaby in one!

The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsberg

This sweet book tells the story of a little boy who goes on a train ride to the North Pole to meet Santa. The underlying message of a child’s belief in Santa while his parents and sister have long sine stopped believing is heart warming. Train obsessed boys will love this book and the movie as well.

The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore

Most of us know this story by heart, it’s a classic for a reason! It captures the wonder and whimsy of this season.
