City Ice Pavilion

This rooftop arena is conveniently located in Long Island City. They offer both youth and adult hockey leagues as well as limited public skate hours and open hockey and figure skating times. Not a pro? They also have extensive training offerings, including free 15 minute lessons. City Ice can also host junior’s next party for as little as $20 per child.

This month they held their first holiday show on the 17th. On weekends through New Year’s Day, you and your family can skate with Santa at 1PM. This season, they are also offering a Winter Break Skating Camp for kids.

World Ice Arena

This indoor rink is located in Flushing Meadows Park, which makes for a great day out with the family—ice skating, feeding the animals, and a carousel ride.  Like their sister arena, City Ice, they offer hockey leagues, figure skating, training, and birthday parties.  They also have an onsite café, offering inexpensive fare.

For the holidays, they offer an annual holiday show; this year’s is on December 18 at 5:30PM. Now through January 1st, you and your family can skate with Santa on Sundays at 1PM.  From December 29 through the 31, World Ice is offering free intro group classes on Thursday at 2:30, Friday at 2:30, and Saturday at 1 and 3:30. Call in advance because space is limited.  World Ice is also offering a winter break camp for kids and their new skate school semester starts on January 4th.
