Family Night Out: Kids’ Night on Broadway

Going to a Broadway show can be a magical experience for kids, but it can be an expensive outing for their parents. Well now it doesn’t have to be!
Between February 5th and 9th, many amazing Broadway shows will be offering free tickets to children ages 6-18, with the purchase of an adult ticket, through the program “Kid’s Night On Broadway” (KNOB). Participating shows include “Mamma Mia,” “The Lion King,” “Wicked,” and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” starring Nick Jonas of The Jonas Brothers. (check out their website for a complete list of participating shows; free tickets may not be available for all performances, and the list of participating shows is subject to change). There are so many wonderful on and off-Broadway shows participating, that you and your children are bound to find at least one that you can enjoy together. For many it can be a life-changing event!

To help parents give their children the full “night out in New York City” experience without breaking the bank, several Times Square restaurants are offering a free children’s meal with the purchase of an adult meal (you must present your theater ticket; check out the terms and conditions, along with a list of participating restaurants on the KNOB website). Some restaurants may require a reservation, so be sure to check that out before you go. If you’re driving, be sure to download the discounted parking voucher under the “Getting There” tab on the website.

Another exciting Kids Go Free event associated with KNOB is a Pre-Theater Party hosted by Madame Tussauds. On February 7th from 3:00-6:00 kids and their parents/guardians (one child/adult) who have tickets for a Kids’ Night performance will get to explore the museum for free, as well as meet cast members from Broadway shows and participate in other fun activities. There’s no better way to immerse your child in the Broadway experience! Don’t forget to bring your tickets!
