Queens Museum of Art Summer Camp

This summer, the Queens Museum of Art’s Big Time Summer Art Thing for Kids is making a triumphant return! Choose from sessions dedicated to architecture, animation, and more.

This camp is an opportunity for kids to learn about and create art within the galleries in the Museum. There will be a total of four sessions, each with its own theme. Each Program runs Monday through Friday, 9 am – 4 pm. They don’t provide lunch or drinks, but they do provide healthy snacks. The schedule is as follows:


Session 1:It’s Wonderstruck!

Taking inspiration from Brian Selznick’s bookWonderstruck that features the Museum’s very own Panorama of the City of New York, learn how to combine words and pictures to make exciting books of your very own.

When: July 9 – 20

Ages: 6 – 10

Cost: $500

 

Session 2: Project Architecture

For the aspiring architect, here’s your chance to obtain a general introduction to the field as you take on the serious project of redesigning the NY State Pavilion right next door to QMA.

When: July 23 – July 27

Ages: 10 – 14

Cost: $300

 

Session 3: Night of the Living City

Inspired by the Museum’s Panorama of the City of New York, explore the life and movement of NYC through a variety of media in 2D and 3D, not to mention stop motion animation.

When: July 23 – August 3

Ages: 6 – 10

Cost: $500

 

Session 4: Holy Carnival!

Inspired by the Museum’s Caribbean: Crossroads of the World exhibition, explore what it takes to produce one big giant collaborative art happening with festive masks, costumes, floats, and a parade.

When: August 6 – 17

Ages: 6 – 10

Cost: $500
