Queens Vanguard Center: Community Photo Essay Project

The National Children’s Study – Queens Vanguard Center wants your pictures of Queens for their Community Photo Essay project. All you have to do is submit a photo of your community in Queens, and answer a few questions about it. No previous photography experience needed – just your view of your part of Queens.

The National Children’s Study aims to document how a child’s surroundings, especially their community, affects his or her health and well being as they grow into adulthood. Your participation in this project will help them determine how Queens kids are doing.

The three questions you’ll have to answer when you submit your picture are:

  1. What makes your community a community?
  2. What does children’s health mean to you?
  3. What can a national children’s health study, like the National Children’s Study –Queens Vanguard Center, mean for Queens?

If you’re interested in participating, email your name and contact information to:  Devin Madden devin.madden@mssm.edu or Margaret Vaughn margaret.vaughn@mssm.edu by Friday, April 13th.  They will then provide you with consent forms and additional guidelines. Your pictures may be used on their website, and at a community event later this year. Help them show off just how awesome Queens is!
