NYC Restore: One-Stop Shop for City Recovery Services & Disaster Relief

Mayor Bloomberg has launched 7 area centers to help those affected by Sandy have access to the help and support they need to start rebuilding their lives, called NYC Restore.

NYC Restore is a means to connect residents and businesses impacted by Hurricane Sandy with financial, health, environmental, nutritional and residential services, as well as FEMA reimbursement processing.

The 7 Restoration Centers are neighborhood offices located in the communities that were hit the hardest to provide long-term assistance to residents. The centers are located in Far Rockaway, Gravesend, Coney Island, Staten Island, Red Hook, Breezy Point and Throgs Neck-Pelham Bay. The offices in Far Rockaway, Gravesend, Coney Island,  and Staten Island have already opened, and the rest will be open by the end of the week.

The goal of the Restoration Centers is to bring together information and referral to all of the City government services available in the aftermath of the storm. FEMA staff will be onsite to perform benefits intake, as well as provide ongoing management and updates of applicants’ FEMA cases. It remains to be seen if they will be successful in achieving this goal.
