There are a number of ways to celebrate the holidays, especially this weekend. From Kwanzaa and  Hanukkah celebrations to a winter concert and a holiday gift sale, you’ll definitely be in the holiday spirit after these events!

28th Annual Langston Hughes Kwanzaa Celebration

Enjoy a festive day of film, African percussion, folktales, storytelling, crafts, music, dance, and more.

Families are invited to experience The Noguchi Museum together through a variety of activities which include hands-on workshops and exploring the galleries. $10 for families with up to 4 members Advance registration is required. Saturday Science Lab

Discover our wild and amazing world under the guidance of Central Library’s acclaimed Discovery Team. Children between the ages of six and eleven will execute awesome experiments, learn something new, and enjoy an hour of educational fun at this wonderful weekly lab.  No pre-registration necessary.

Winter Workshop: The Art of the Gift

Just in time for the holidays, this unique event will focus on the spirit of gift-exchange. Cookies and hot chocolate will be provided. All are welcome; but recommended for ages 4-12. Parents and caregivers are required to stay with their children and are encouraged to create along with them.

Admission is for children only and includes materials for the Winter Workshop.
$15 per child for non-members
$10 per child for SculptureCenter members.

“Dino”mite Dinosaurs

Aspiring paleontologists can learn how these prehistoric creatures lived and pretend to go on an archaeological dig! Snack, craft and live non-prehistoric animals included. Participants must be toilet trained. Ages  3-4.

25th Annual Historic Holiday House Tour

Six historic sites in Flushing invite you to celebrate the holiday season and learn about these NYC Landmark houses and their unique histories. The Kingsland Homestead, Voelker Orth House, Lewis H. Latimer House Museum, Friends Meeting House, Flushing Town Hall, and the Bowne House will each offer special activities, delicious refreshments, and a glimpse at what life was once like during the holidays in Flushing at this fun-filled annual event.

You can begin at any site and a trolley will be stopping at each historic site to bring you to your next destination.
General admission:
$10 presale tickets/$12 at the door
Children 12 and under are FREE

HANUKKAH CELEBRATION: Shtreiml

A new look at some centuries old folk music, delivered by a high-octane mix of not-so-traditional Eastern-European Jewish and Turkish music. Led by harmonica innovator Jason Rosenblatt, one of the few people worldwide who can play the diatonic harmonica (a.k.a. blues harp) chromatically, Shtreiml’s 5-piece band has performed internationally at notable festivals and venues.
