Help a Rockaway School Rebuild

When I first began volunteering after Hurricane Sandy hit, I met Lada, a Rockaway resident who came to my house looking to pick up supplies for her neighbors. She and her husband had dropped their children off in Pennsylvania and left them safe while they went back to Rockaway to recover what was left of their life. Lada and others like her are the reason why we need to remember that there are still New Yorkers suffering deeply. That our neighbors still need our help. Lada is now helping her son’s school rebuild what they have lost so please see they below letter from her and maybe you can help.

“Dear friends! As many of you know, I live in the Rockaways and Hurricane Sandy hit us very hard. Among the many things destroyed was my son’s school. All the toys, supplies and furniture were completely destroyed – the kids have nothing. I am working with the school to help them rebuild. This school is a local treasure and has been an active part of the community since 1975. Scores of Rockaway kids have gone there and with your help many more can as well. I am asking for you to find it in your hearts to donate to our beloved little school. You can either purchase a direct gift from the Amazon wish list or the Toys R Us wish list or you can paypal me at as a Personal Gift. Also, gift cards from are also much appreciated. Every single gift/donation goes 100% to the children of the Rockaways. Thank you and please feel free to ask any questions.”
