Opportunity for Public School Parents to Serve on Community Educational Councils

With the seemingly never-ending budget cuts that continue to plague our city’s public schools and the almost unrealistic demands placed on teachers from high-ranking officials, the need for parental involvement in the future of public education policy is crucial.  At this time, the city is accepting applications from parents to serve on Community Education Councils, which are “education policy advisory boards responsible for reviewing and evaluating schools’ instructional programs, approving zoning lines, and advising the Chancellor. CECs play an essential role in shaping education policies for the New York City public school.”
