What We Buy Our Kids

There is nothing new about the color-coding of gender: blue for boys and pink for girls. While many of us know that these color designations have their roots in two things, first, money and second insuring that a boy will grow up identifying as a boy and a girl will grow up identifying as a girl, we also know that dressing a boy in blue will not guarantee that he grows up identifying as a boy.

In our society of consumerism and colored gender designation, despite swearing not to buy anything pink or blue, it’s hard; the attached images give us a glimpse into how easy one can get caught up in buying gender colored toys.
