This Friday June 21st marks another Make Music New York Festival where the entire city celebrates enjoying free music at various parks, businesses and cultural centers. There are many great free concerts happening throughout the day but here are a few that must not be misses. If you want more into MMNY has a great blog post on 3 ways to navigate Make Music NY.

Our MMNY Queens highlights are:

China in Flushing: This is the biggest MMNY event in Queens happening at the Queens Crossing Mall! Twenty finalists from the SuperNova Chinese American Signing Contest will be performing live, in a singing contest co-organized by TVB, the biggest television station in Hong Kong.

Mexico in Long Island City: This season Socrates’ annual solstice event taps into ancient Mayan energy to recharge mind, body, and spirit. Viewers can participate in a special Solstice ritual performed by Urban Shaman Mama Donna, practice yoga at sunset, or take part in an event-culminating, community drum circle with Toca & Alé Alé Drummers… but not before the evening gets kicked off with an exhibition of action-packed, high-flying Lucha Libre! (masked Mexican wrestling). More information at Socrates Sculpture Park’s website.
