DONT’T MISS in NYC
It is the last weekend to visit Fete Paradiso on Governors Island. It is the world’s first festival of vintage French carnival rides and carousels. The rare, museum-quality collection, which includes a diverse array of attractions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as carousels, flying swings and a pipe organ, will be available for the public to ride and enjoy every weekend. Admission to the Festival is free; rides and games cost $3 each.

Vintage Flicks in Sunnyside Gardens Park
A great evening for families and friends of all ages, the third annual Flicks in the Garden at Sunnyside Gardens Park. This year’s Flicks in the Gardens will showcase 50 minutes of vintage cartoons curated by Tommy José Stathes of CartoonsOnFilm. Tommy’s carefully selected family-friendly cartoons will delight the kid in all of us.

City Salutations at MOMA Dome
Hundreds of Long Island City yoga enthusiasts, from beginners to experts, are expected to take part in “City Salutations,” a fitness/wellness festival being held at MoMA Dome PS1 in Long Island City, Queens. EmblemHealth and Flavorpill are teaming up for the event to feature yoga instruction and classes in tai chi. Healthy local food vendors, including KIND bars and Vita Coco, will also be stationed on the premises with packaged options available for sale. The event is free, and the first 300 guests will receive a free yoga mat.

National Estuaries Day Festival
Commemorate coastal bays, sounds, and lagoons-the magnificent places where rivers meet the seas at Alley Pond Environmental Center this fall. The festival will feature educational exhibits and interactive booths from various organizations and neighborhood groups. Bring the whole family to enjoy FREE boat rides, activities, entertainment, hands-on demonstrations, crafts, and fun games!

FAB! Festival 2013
The 10th Annual FAB! Festival promises fun for all ages during this one-day-only arts explosion features free performances, exhibits, and activities. Attendees can sample tasty bites from local food vendors, learn about local greening, and experience more culture per square foot than at any other NYC festival!

The Astoria Arts Festival

Fort Tryon Medieval Festival
Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags during the Medieval Festival. Visitors can check out medieval music, dance, magic, and performances with the afternoon being concluded with a thrilling joust between knights on horseback.

Make Sun Catchers at NYSCI
Explore light and color as you experiment with prisms, flashlights and filters. Plus, create your own sun catcher to take home. This drop-in workshop is recommended for children ages 18 months and older. Register on the day of the event at the NYSCI admissions area.

Free Tai Chi at Socrates Sculpture Park
Led by certified instructors from the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA, these classes offer the opportunity to learn Taoist Tai Chi, improve one’s health, relax, and exercise in an outdoor setting among changing exhibitions of contemporary sculpture. Classes are free and designed for all experience levels. Participants should wear comfortable clothing.
