The elusive British artist, Banksy (who is totally awesome BTW) made his way to our fine borough according to the Sunnyside Post and the artist’s own website. Banksy painted a brick wall located on 69th St and 38th Ave. in Woodside Queens. The piece is of a man attempting to scrub out the words “What we do in life echoes in eternity” painted on a pale brick wall. His comment about the piece? “Some people criticize me for using sources that are a bit low brow (this quote is from ‘Gladiator’) but you know what? “I’m just going to use that hostility to make me stronger, not weaker” as Kelly Rowland said on the X Factor”.
Banksy is a British artist who has graced the world over with his whimsical public art pieces. He originally made his mark by graffiti tagging buildings in a humorous and thought-provoking way but, what makes him truly special, is that no one knows who he is. Banksy has made it to NYC this month and has been here about a week causing a frenzy of sightings that you can follow in social media.
This amazing piece of art was quickly destroyed but we appreciate the effort on the artists part none the less.
