Mother’s Day Fun and Plant Sale at the Queens Botanical Garden
Sunday, May 11, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Let mom relax in the Arboretum, join a Garden tour at 2 p.m., and peruse the Plant Sale. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., kids can make a special craft for mom at the Children’s Activity Table (while supplies last). Free with Garden admission.
Socrates Sculpture Park Spring Opening
Sunday, May 11, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Pack a picnic lunch for Mom and head to the riverside park with gorgeous Manhattan views as it unveils four new works during its free spring opening. Then you could hop on the new free LIC Art Bus and head to SculptureCenter and MoMAPS1 for more immersion in art and culture.
Spa Castle, 6 a.m. to midnight
Give mom a day of pampering at Spa Castle in College Point. The $40 entrance fee gives unlimited access to its saunas, spa pods, baths, and lounge areas. You can also purchase additional massages and treatments.
Brunch or Dinner at Water’s Edge
Treat mama to a delicious meal at this upscale restaurant overlooking the East River. Brunch ($50 per adult, $30 per child) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. includes an amazing assortment of food stations and buffets, while dinner ($65 per adult, $30 per child) from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. offers a three-course meal with entree choices of filet mignon, Long Island duck, striped bass, ancho dusted shrimp, and surf ‘n’ turf. Queens Museum’s Family Art Workshop

Make art together—or let Dad take the kids while Mom takes a nap. The Queens Museum invites children ages five to 12 and their adult companions to explore different works on view through a fun hands-on art making activity. Children with special needs are welcome, and adaptations are available. No fee or advance registration required.

Give mom the chance to peacefully stroll through the offerings from the 80-plus vendors selling food, jewelry, fashion, furniture, art and crafts, gifts, antiques, collectibles, and more. Dad can take the kids to the Museum of the Moving Image next door.
MOMIX at Queens Theatre

Transport mom away from her everyday life to the fantasy world created through MOMIX’s magical lighting and imagery. In an endless search for another gravity, artistic director Moses Pendleton combines athletic dance, riveting music, outrageous costumes, and inventive props to create an entertaining multimedia experience. Tickets are $25 to $46 each.
